When you send us your travelers,

we see our job as seeing to their wants, and the things that they never knew they wanted or needed:

- the van to take them out to local restaurants that are
further than a walk.

- the notice about what fun things are happening in town that night and that the van can take them to.

- the fresh fruits

- the home made cookies to grab while on the way back to the room

- the BBQs in summer

- the talk in the common room

- the networking that just happens

Community Charity Support

In the communities surrounding our hotels, we want to more than "just exist". Our aim is to contribute. After all, these towns are our hosts and as guests we wish to respect and partner with them.

There are three ways that we partner with our communities:

  1. Our staff donate their time and we pay our staff while they are helping the charities of their choices.
  2. We donate all our outgoing furniture and décor to the less fortunate in our communities.
  3. We ask our guests to partner with us by donating a dollar a night which we, of course, match. A part of that goes to local charities and a part to The Vision of Children Foundation.

Vision of Children

Our community involvement goes beyond working with local charities. Wanting to do more, we started
our own charity ~ The Vision of Children Foundation.

Sensing a need for greater emphasis on both cure and care for kids suffering from blindness, Woodfin has created The Vision of Children, a foundation whose goal is to improve the lives of visually impaired youth and their families.

This year in the U.S., there will be more than 7,000 babies born with uncorrectable vision disorders. Those born blind will never experience the visual beauty of our world. The rest will, but with the knowledge that their sight will expire before adulthood. And all will have difficulty leading everyday lives.

The foundation aims to give these children a chance at sight for life. To reach this goal, it directs and sponsors research leading to both prevention and treatment. Additionally, it serves as a primary information source for the affected families, the public and the medical community.

Eco Stewardship

We are just launching our Eco Stewardship program that brings lower water and chemical usage by reducing laundry, utilizing Fair Trade Exchange coffees and teas so that we support fair returns to our caring producers and partners.

That is our start. The program will be growing.

We all have to start somewhere and start now. It just makes sense.
